Thanadoula
Denise Lefebvre
End-of-Life care services need not begin at the end of life.
You may wish to start planning while you're still healthy, when you've just been diagnosed with a life limiting illness or when you know your time is short. You can control when, what and how you want assistance, which is why I have listed a few basic packages. You can also choose not to have a package and simply get the support you need, when you need it.
Services
Death doula (thanadoula) services include all manner of non-medical support and are geared to making the dying more comfortable with their choices for their death. There are many aspects of death and dying to explore and the emotional and moral support of a doula can make this seemingly overwhelming task more manageable.

Speak to the staff on your behalf
Advocating for oneself is not always easy, especially if you are weak, tired or vulnerable. I am able to speak and collaborate with staff (if applicable) to ensure that your needs are met, that you are comfortable and that you have everything that you need.
As a Doula, I Do Not:
Perform any clinical tasks
A Thanadoula is not a medical professional. Any medical or paramedical support must be provided by medical professionals.
Make decisions for you
My job as a doula is to provide information, advice and guidance. You or your family and loved ones (or your representative) must make all final decisions.
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
This experience is all about you. I am able to work with you to ensure that your beliefs are respected and that everything you need is in place. Again, my belief is that death is something we all have to face, in our own way, in peace and dignity.
Follow-up visit
Part of a doula's work is helping the family and loved ones navigate the steps leading up to and immediately following the death. Emotional support, mindful grieving practices and advice with more practical matters are all intrinsically linked to the services I offer.
Phone & Email Support
It is natural to have concerns or questions about your process. My services do not end when I leave your side; I am also available for email and urgent phone support.
